Response of Mango Seedlings to VA-Mycorrhizal Inoculation

چکیده
Accepted : June, 2009 Mango is one of the most popular fruit crops grown in tropical and subtropical countries. It is considered as ‘National fruit of India’ and is rightly called as ‘king of fruits’ due to unique taste, flavour and is popular within all sections of society. Mango is cultivated vegetatively by adopting several techniques like inarching, budding, stone grafting but veneer grafting is adopted in large scale for maximum growth and yield. Whatever method of grafting is followed, the seedling stocks have to be healthy and vigorous and should have desirable height and thickness. VAmycorrhizal fungi improve uptake of phosphorus and other micronutrients. The mycorrhizal fungus is a specialized member of rhizosphere or root region microorganisms. Mycorrhizal plants contain higher concentration of P in their tissues than control (Harvey and Smith, 1982). Increase in uptake of other nutrient elements such as zinc, sulphur and copper have also been reported as influenced by VAM inoculation (Hayman, 1982). Hence, an experiment was conducted on mango seedling to observe the effect of inoculation of Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizae (VAM) viz., Glomus epigaeum, Glomus mosseae and Gigaspora calospora and their combinations on growth and root colonization of mango seedlings.

Vesicular-arbuscular (VA) mycorrhizae improve salinity tolerance in pre-inoculation subterranean clover (Trifolium subterraneum) seedlings
Effects of the mycorrhizal fungus Glomus intraradices on establishment of subterranean clover (Trifolium subterraneum L.) seedlings in saline conditions were studied in a glasshouse experiment. Growth and nutrient uptake were determined 10, 20 and 30 days after transplanting of mycorrhizal and nonmycorrhizal matched seedlings into soils with five different levels of salinity. Mycorrhizal plants...

Citrus fruits are susceptible to salinity. In the present study, the reaction of trifoliate sour orange (Poncirus trifoliata L.) to the salinity stress at the presence of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) was investigated. Forty-day-old seedlings were inoculated with three species of AMF in combinations including Glomus mosseae + Glomus intraradices, Glomus mosseae + Glomus hoi, Glomus intrar...

Commercially available arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) products were applied at an operational rate to eastern redcedar (Juniperus virginiana L.) nursery beds and containers to evaluate seedling growth and colonization responses. A field study at the Augusta Forestry Center in Crimora, VA, and a companion container study were initiated in the fall of 2012. MycoApply® Endo products containing the sa...

Influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) (Glomus etunicatum, G. intraradices and Glomus versiforme) and external phosphorus supplement (8 and 35 mg P Kg-1 soil) on leaf P, Zn, Cu and Fe nutrition of 4-month-old tea(Camellia sinensis) was studied in an glass house pot experiment. The highest leaf P concentration (up to 59.43% increase) was found in G. versiforme inoculated seedlings gro...
متن کاملContributions of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi to Growth, Biomass and Nutrient Status of Pistachio Seedlings under Saline Conditions
Excessive salt accumulation in soil is a major ecological and agronomical problem, especially in arid and semiarid areas. Excessive soil salinity affects the establishment, development and growth of plants, resulting in major losses of production. A pot experiment was set up to examine the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (Glomus etunicatum and Glomus versiforme) and salinity on the gro...
